Krusenstiernska arkivet

The Swedish Family Archives were mainly assembled /collected by Major Philip von Krusenstierna (1875-1938).
After his death the Archives were initially kept by his widow, Eva von Krusenstierna, born Staël von Holstein, and after her death in 1957 by their son Bogislaus (Bo) von Krusenstierna at the Ågesta estate outside Stockholm.
Together with his sister, Ulla Pehrsson, Bo developed the Family Archives. They organised appropriate storage and for the first time all items in the Archives were registered.
In connection with the foundation of the Swedish Family Society von Krusenstierna in 1987 the efforts to find a better solution for the storage of the Archives were intensified. The solution was found in Kalmar, a town in the southern part of Sweden with longstandig connections with the Family von Krusenstierna.
The children of Philip and Eva von Krusenstierna had possessed the common ownership of The Swedish Family Archives. In order to keep them together and available for coming generations, they handed it over to the Kalmar Museum as a gift in 1982. In 1991 they finally came to their current place in Kalmar Museum.
The Family Archives are kept in one ”archive room”, one exhibition room and one lounge.
The Archive room mainly contains documents, books, letters, photos etc. stored in suitable cupboards. The exhibition room is integrated to with the other exhibition rooms of the Museum. The public has access only to the exhibition room and the lounge.
The Family von Krusenstierna Swedish Archives contains material from all branches of the Family. A small, private Family Archive in Munich contains material from the Estonian Branch only.
