The Krusenstierna archives

The von Krusenstierna Swedish family archive is owned and managed by Kalmar County
Museum. The archive originated as a family archive collected by Philip Herman von
Krusenstierna
(1875-1938). His children donated the archive to Kalmar County Museum in
1982 and in 1991 it found its present location in
Kalmar County Museum.

The archive is housed in two rooms and contains documents, books, letters and
photographs from all branches of the von Krusenstierna family. It is possible to gain access
to the archive for research, by contacting the board (styrelsen@krusenstierna.se). The
Swedish family von Krusenstierna association also organises an annual archive open days
for the family.

The Kalmar County Museum has several times used material from the Krusenstierna archive
for both specific exhibitions as "Two Women, Two Lives" (in 2006 called) about the lives of
Ulla Pehrsson and Karen Grünerwald, both born von Krusenstierna and their “item of the
month”.

There is also a smaller family von Krusenstierna German family archive. It was until 2024 in
private ownership in Munich but has now been donated to Herder-Institute in Marburg, Germany. This Archive mainly contains material from the Estonian branch.
